Open-source and Indian ecommerce platforms compared
39 open-source ecommerce platforms and 20 made in India, with what each costs and what it does. Open-source platforms cost you a server and a developer. Hosted Indian platforms cost you a plan, a fee on sales, or both.
We read every fact from the vendor's own page or code repository on 7 November 2026. A tick means the vendor's page says so; a blank means its pages don't. Prices change, so each name links to its source. ShopNx is our own product, and it comes first in both tables.

How to choose
- You have a developer and want full control. Pick an open-source platform in a language your developer knows.
- You want to start with no bill. Pick a plan with no monthly fee, and compare the percentage each one takes, and any cap per order.
- Your sales are already large. Compare a yearly plan with no fee on sales against a percentage at your own monthly sales.
- You sell jewellery. Check how each platform handles a price that follows the metal rate. See how ShopNx does it.

Questions sellers ask
Which of these platforms is really free?
Every open-source platform here is free to download, and you still pay for a server and for someone to set it up. Among hosted Indian platforms, Dukaan, Instamojo, Typof, ShopDeck, Shop2Host, BizzPocket and oBizee let you start without a plan fee. Most of them charge a percentage on sales instead.
When is a platform with a monthly fee cheaper?
When your sales are large. A percentage grows with your sales and a monthly fee does not, so work out both at your own monthly sales. A fee with a cap per order, like Dukaan's or oBizee's, can also beat a flat percentage on big orders.
Does ShopNx support a multi-vendor marketplace?
No. ShopNx has one seller per store. If several sellers must share one store, look at Spree Commerce, Vendure, Aimeos or Spurtcommerce, whose own pages describe marketplace features.
Why are some well-known open-source names missing?
We list a project only if its licence is open source and it had a commit in the last 12 months. Broadleaf, Virto Commerce, Sharetribe, LiteCart and BeikeShop limit commercial use or redistribution, and Shopizer, osCommerce and Reaction Commerce have gone quiet.
