How to find broken links on your store
Use Google Search Console. It is free, and its Pages report lists the addresses on your site that Google tried and couldn't find.
How do I find them?
- Add your store to Google Search Console(opens in a new tab).
- Submit your store's XML sitemap. See where to find it.
- Give Google some time to visit your pages, then open Indexing, then Pages.
- Look for Not found (404), and open the list of addresses.
Why do links break on a store?
- A product was deleted, but a menu, a page or an old post still links to it.
- A product or page address was changed after it was shared.
- A link was mistyped in a page, a WhatsApp message or a social profile.
How do I fix one?
- The link is on your store: correct it in the menu or page it sits on.
- A product you still sell: put it back under its old address.
- A product you no longer sell: remove your links to it. A missing page for a product that is really gone is not a problem to Google.
- The link is on someone else's site: ask them to change it.
Questions sellers ask
Does ShopNx have a link checker?
No. Google Search Console does this job for free, and it reports the broken links Google itself found.
Can ShopNx redirect an old link to a new page?
A redirect tool is not on our feature list. Change the link itself wherever you control it, or keep the old page address.
